Hairy Highland Cows

I’ve been having a lot of fun working on posting pictures of hairy Highland Cows to an incredibly well-named, and well-thought out new Instagram page I’ve created. Brace yourselves … it’s called … Cows.With.Cool.Hair

Basically, I get to have fun posting photos of my recent trips back home with an array of hairy Highland cows that just look spectacularly cute, and in desperate need of haircuts.

Highland cows are a breed of Scottish cattle, well-known for their long coats. They typically have long horns, and colours can range. For the most part, I get to hang out with the red and black coated Moo’s. The long hair helps them deal with the climate for which they’ve been bred for, up North in the Scottish Highlands. The climate is typically windy, and rain is frequent.

The spots I take my piccies are up by where my Mum and Sis live in Evanton (fairly close to the City of Inverness), and also up on the Isle of Benbecula, in the Outer Hebrides, where the rest of my Mum’s side of the family live. There is a fantastic croft by Culla Bay with the most gorgeous group of Highland Coos … definitely spend much of my time clicking at the camera there.

Anyways, please go ahead and enjoy some of the photos below … and I hope you get to adore these most fond-looking, hairy, horny, cute Highland cows!

High Desert, California

My husband is currently coaching A-ball out in High Desert, California so on a trip out there in early August I had my camera and got to taking some photos of roadside happenings that caught my eye! My trip took me from Victorville, Helendale and close to Barstow as there was a fire that suddenly broke out with smoke filling up the skies.

And what did High Desert have to offer …

One very photo-loving spot was Elmer’s Glass Bottle Tree Ranch out in Oro Valley! Towering poles of welded metal, branched with colorful and your plain-jain glass bottles stood in a the front yard right on Route 66! Rusted memorabilia were placed at the top of these “cactus-looking” towers, along with other bits and pieces to really bring out more curiosity in this collectors ranch.

As you drove further down the road, an old water tower in another front yard, with “Jesus Saves” painted afront was an odd, but inquisitive photo-stop moment. This area of Route 66 insistently flowed with a Vintage flair … a fallen down gas station with the rotating dials of a pump open to view, a old school Mini Mart no longer open for who know how long, an old tyre shop junkyard and a shop wall painted with a Route 66 basic map.

High Desert isn’t a vacation spot, far from it, but it is a place to grasp a feel of 60’s Americana with it’s multiple antique stores and photo-stop areas that are out in plain view to capture.

Future Felts #GetFeltUp

Getting up early on a Sunday morning is a real pain … but not when you get to take piccies of these two fabfun peeps! Introducing the future Felts, Emilie and Mike who claim #getfeltup as their hashtag for their wedding, a perfect indication of their wittiness and not-so-serious nature, as you’re about to see in the photos below also.

Emilie is a close friend who I have the pleasure of working with, and jamming out to Spice Girls and S Club 7 on our jam sessions in the car pool lane to/from work each day! Poor ole Emilie also has to deal with my crazy/off-tangent conversations on a daily basis, but it keeps me happy to have someone with an honest and vibrant perspective for 2 hours a day each weekday to talk to – oh, and she’s entertaining as hell – BOOM TRAVIS! So getting to take some couple photos for her and her future hubster was something I’ve been excited to get on with for a while.

Both Emilie and Mike were really up for anything, and being out the desert is a charming locale to capture the “car-trouble” and grand leaping photos, as well as the cheek to cheek “smile for grandma” poses. We then moved to my humble home for some candid, up-close photos in front of the make shift light set-up (thank you eBay).

I was really impressed with the whole attitude that went along with this shoot … it was easy, breezy, and relaxing without a hint of awkwardness. Even when I asked them to touch each others butts, to get felt up (don’t forget the Hashtag – you know what I mean)! Mucho love and happiness to the Felts!

Enjoy!

Baby Coming Soon – Mizbeli and Henderson

‘Twas a hot, hot, hot Sunday afternoon that the stunning Mizbeli and her attentive “father-to-be” husband got down to have some photos taken at the Texas Rangers Spring Training ground out in Surprise. We then went for a quick stop over to the desert for some fun cactus-scape shots! With Erick, their little baby coming soon, we put the bump on display and started snap-snapping away!

The lovely couple were in great spirits and were really excited to utilize the baseball field as the main stage for the day. It started getting serious when cap went on and Mizbeli stepped up to the mound, brushing up ready for some “PITCHER-perfect” poses!

We then headed out Westward towards the White Tank Mountains looking for the idyllic spot to get the dry desert shots in. Whilst we got some on-point photos in the desert, the street that led us out that way also proved to be a great addition to the film gallery!

Both Mizbeli and Henderson come from the faraway land of Venezuela so the aim was to have some “bump-awesome” photos to send back to their family back home. And I think that is exactly what was achieved! Through the severe heat, and many water-breaks, taking photos for this lovely couple was genuinely a pleasure. With their relaxed, yet “give-it-a-go” attitude made this Sunday a Funday for sure.

Enjoy!

Photos From The Motherland

‘Twas July 2015, and I went back to the Motherland (the UK // United Kingdom // Great Britain // Scotland & England to be Precise in my case) for a very quick week trip! Obviously, a couple of pix were taken  of my wee adventures up in the Outer Hebrides and down south in England. As I currently live in the lovely, warm/baking hot desert of Arizona, it’s always amazing to get home to bask in the lovely convos with family and seep up all the greenery that these well rained upon pastured lands procure. Highlights below …

Wee Lamb and Protective Mum
Wee Lamb and Protective Mum

My Auntie Mel’s lamby!!! My Aunt is a crofter and raises sheep and cows – a serious business that she absolutely loves! She has a connection with her animals so deep that she has named a cow after my mum, another cow after her best friend … just touching!

Eileen Donan Castle
Eileen Donan Castle

The picturesque and iconic castle that we always pass when driving down from the Isle of Skye on the route to Inverness. It’s old, it has a footbridge, ummmm yes! Lovely stuff!

Let’s just say that when my time comes, I wouldn’t mind this “room” with a view here at Luskentyre Cemetery on the Isle of Harris!

Highland Cow doing the Marilyn
Highland Cow doing the Marilyn

I love, adore, smile at the site of these hairy balls of cuteness! So much so that I have a highland cow head hanging in my home! Calm down … not a real one … one of these lovelies by Abigail Ahern! Highland cows are real-life teddy cows – and they’re ginger, an empowerment of the genetic Scottish trait!

This is Boe … or Bailey … I get confused, as they’re like twins, but they’re not. My lil cousin has two of these lovely puggabillies, and this is a true “it’s been a tough day” face.

My cousin can be bit camera shy, but she also likes to show off her pugs! This is Bailey … or Boe … I really need to pay attention, absolutely pants at putting names to faces.

This is Ayla, and yes, she really is this cute! I’m obsessed with my dahhhhhhling niece, and am so glad that we now live in a world of facetime so I can see her from the Motherland!

Another piccy of my Ayla-bear! We were doing push-ups as part of our training for the next Crossfit Champs! Who am I kidding, I wasn’t … but Ayla was really getting into it as you can see! Goooooo Ayla!!!

Rayna Baby Photos

Born at 30 weeks – triumphing multiple medical complications – and just being so darn cute, may I introduce the stunningly gorgeous Rayna in this array of baby photos! With her lovely brown and soft disheveled baby hair, and enough cuteness to make a room full of ladies “awwwwwwww” out loud, you know this littl’un is going to be quite the mini charmer.

The first born to my friends Rachel and Ryan, Rayna is a miracle baby. I couldn’t wait to take pics of her and at 39 weeks old (which is still not a full-term pregnancy) you can see from my photos below that Rayna is already a photogenic beauty. And the fact that she slept for the whole time, you would have thought that she was still sleeping in her mummy’s tum!

When translated into Spanish (Reyna), Rayna means “Queen” and it’s no doubt that this darling Rayna is Queen of so many hearts already – loved and adored from so many, home and away.

Just got back from an awesome trip from Florida, and on our last day we had an outing at the Sawgrass Everglades Park … of course, we had to do the the air boat trip! So being in a snap-happy mood, I took a bunch of pics along the way.

Roger the Bullador!

It’s so hard to resist taking pictures of Roger, my gorgeous Bullador! What a top-posing, canine model he is … as you can see below. With his tuxedo chest, almighty tail that whips so aggressively, and a giant head , he truly is a fabulous beast who just loves, loves, loves! It’s not just his looks that get all the attention, but Roger is also a bit of a smarty pants that has a few tricks to show-off (especially when treats are at the ready).

Roger will be three years old on May first. Oscar, my fiance, picked him up after seeing an ad on Craigslist. He got to see Roger’s mum, who is a yellow lab, and his dad, who is a American Bulldog. With this combo, you obviously get Roger, but instead of being labelled as a “Mutt”, Roger is a BULLADOR! Personally, I had never heard of such a breed, and thought it was made up, but there are actual Bullador breeders out there. Who knew?!

I hope you enjoy checking out some of his shots below … and adore him as much as I do!

Must add that this big puppy is an absolute snuggler, and I don’t think he realises how big he really is as he tries to perch his butt on my knees daily, with the aim of sitting on my lap. He gives the most almighty hugs as soon as you arrive home, with his paws reaching up to my shoulders!

All in all, I have a bad-ass dog!

Fun at the Wildlife World Zoo in Surprise, AZ

Surprise, Arizona is a relatively new City (established in 1960), but it holds one of my favourite places to go visit – the wonderful and fun “Wildlife World Zoo“. Plus it’s about 10 minutes from my house which is very handy too!

One thing that stands out is the openness and more natural-looking habitats that exhibits the animals, whilst still allowing spectators to get up and close to check out these non-domestic critters. The zoo doesn’t offer such a commercial flair to bring in the crowds, committing more to the Wildlife aspect as in its name, but there are definitely attractions that make the Zoo fun for all – in such instances that checking out the animals wasn’t enough! I personally love to feed the giraffe … and they love to be fed too … great combo if you ask me. But nothing beats the kid in me and getting myself in that petting zoo!!!!! The cuteness of the goats, deer and llamas head-butting at my legs and nibbling at my clothes is just my thing. I can’t help myself begging my fiance to take a snapshot as the baby goats jump on my back.

By the way, did I mention that there are kangaroos at the zoo – yes, KANGAROOS! I had never seen kangaroos prior to my first visit so I’m always excited to see the bounding fellas.

Surprise zoo also has a skyride which takes you from one side of the zoo to the other. We indulged in this on my first visit due to my low-tolerance to the pain in my feet caused my these silly sandals I chose to wear that day. Comfy shoes that aren’t shy to get a tad mucky are a must, as the zoo paths are dirt trails.

I have never been bored on my visits to the Zoo and hope to get back soon with a camera thats battery doesn’t die 10 minutes into my adventure … please check out some of my pix below (with some help with my new “flare” photography app) …

Baby On Board Photos With Jen & Napoleon

I had the pleasure of being asked to take some photos of our good friends Jen & Napoleon in a “pre-baby popping out” session. I was definitely excited as I’m not a professional photographer by any means, but I enjoyed being trusted to have a go at it nonetheless.  As you will see below Jen looks absolutely fab and flawless pregnant! And or course, Nap couldn’t be a prouder dad-to-be.
